Historic Sandown – 1960s racing car preview

As Historic Sandown this weekend pays tribute to Sir Jack Brabham, all eyes will be on the action in the 1960s racing car field as it takes to the track in an 8 lap scratch race Saturday at 1:30pm.
We mentioned the flying dentist, Chris Farrell in an earlier post, but we need to again here as he will be out in his Irish Racing Team Brabham BT30 – always a quick performer. South Australia’s Sean Whelan will leave his RALT RT4 at home to focus on driving a similar Brabham BT30 in this race. The Elfin competition to the Brabham force will be from Richard Carter (Elfin Mono), Laurie Bennett & Andrew Goldie, with an outside chance to Paul Hamilton – all in Elfin 600s.
A heap more Brabhams, Elfins and Rennmax will wrap up the 20 car field in the first of a two-part Tasman Cup – second part at Sydney Motorsport Park at the end of the month.
